Purdy and Figg Cleaning Products Review: Is It All Hype or Does It Actually Work?
Posted on 16 February 2026
Is Purdy and Figg an actual cleaning product, or is it mostly hype
There are a lot of cleaning products on the market right now. Refillable. Eco-friendly. Minimalist. Subscription-based. Some of them genuinely perform well. Others look great online but do not stand up to real-world use.
So I wanted to answer one simple question.
Is Purdy and Figg an actual cleaning product, or is it mostly hype
It is a very well-known and fast-growing brand that most people have heard of. But popularity does not always equal performance. So rather than guessing, I put Purdy and Figg to the test properly.
No sponsorship. No freebies. Just real use in real environments over a full week.
First Impressions: Ordering and Delivery
Ordering through the website was straightforward. Nothing complicated and nothing confusing. Delivery was also fairly quick, which is always a positive.
That said, it arrived via one of those delivery companies that are known for losing parcels. This one did arrive thankfully, and because the pack is small enough to fit through the letterbox, that is genuinely convenient.
So, first impressions were acceptable.

Packaging and Unboxing
When the box arrived, it was not particularly impressive.
The branding is very plain and minimalist. That does not affect how a product cleans, but given how much the brand leans into lifestyle aesthetics, it is worth mentioning.
Inside the box, there were:
- Small glass concentrate bottles
- Simple instructions
- Scented Counter Clean refills
The instructions explain that you pour the 20ml concentrate into a Bottle for Life and top it up with water.
One issue straight away was that we did not receive a Bottle for Life. That may have been a missed option at checkout, but it was not obvious. Luckily, we had plenty of spray bottles, but for a domestic customer, that could easily be confusing.
What eco-friendly cleaning products really do and do not do
Everything Is Called Counter Clean
Every product we received was labelled Counter Clean.
Not kitchen cleaner
Not bathroom cleaner
Not disinfectant
Just Counter Clean.
That raised questions immediately.
- Is it antibacterial?
- Does it disinfect?
- Is it suitable for food prep areas?
- Is it suitable for bathrooms?
None of that information was clearly explained on the website or the packaging.
What Is Actually in Purdy and Figg?

Reading the ingredients list, the main components appeared to be:
- Alcohol based solvents
- Surfactants
- Perfume
In simple terms, this is largely an alcohol based surface cleaner with fragrance.
Alcohol can be effective, but without clear claims around sanitising or hygiene standards, it is difficult to know what level of cleaning you are achieving.
From a professional point of view, it felt more like a fragranced surface spray than a performance-focused cleaning product.
Understanding what cleaning chemicals actually do
Mixing the Product
The concentrate is mixed at:
- 20ml concentrate
- 500ml water
We tested three scents:
- Orange and Clove
- Spruce
- Fig
I chose Orange and Clove as they were likely to be the strongest.
Mixing was simple and straightforward. In commercial cleaning, you would normally add water first, then the chemical, but for domestic use, this did not cause any issues.
How professional cleaners mix and use products safely
The Smell
The scent is strong. Very strong.
It smells far more like a home fragrance than a cleaning product. At the time of filming, just before Christmas, the Orange and Clove scent felt very seasonal and candle-like.
Pleasant yes. But scent does not equal cleaning power.
Why does smell not mean something is clean
One Week Later: Real World Results
We used Purdy and Figg in the office and at home over the course of a week.
Here is what we found.
Cleaning Performance
There was no noticeable improvement compared to water and a microfibre cloth. There was no clear grease-cutting ability and no reassurance around hygiene or sanitising.
It looked like it cleaned, but so does wiping a surface with a damp cloth.
Confidence and Clarity
This is where the product really fell down.
As a professional cleaner, I want to know exactly what a product is doing. I want clarity around hygiene and suitability for different areas.
With Purdy and Fig, that clarity just was not there.
Everything about the brand, from the website to the packaging, felt more like a lifestyle product than a cleaning solution.
Final Verdict: Would I Buy Purdy and Figg Again?
No, I would not.
Not because it is terrible, but because:
- It does not clean better than basic alternatives
- There is no clarity around sanitising or disinfecting
- It feels more like a perfume than a cleaner
- The branding outweighs the performance
In my professional opinion, it is style over substance.
If you enjoy strong scents and minimalist branding, you may like it. If you care about cleaning performance, hygiene and results, there are far better options available.
